The SV Times - Gnus of Interest

News in the City
by Connor Frio
School overcrowding is reaching epic proportions in Sunset Valley. Teachers are complaining that their classrooms don't have enough desks for the number of students. Parents are complaining because their kids skip school. The kids complain since it takes them over 2 hours to enter the door and get to their desk. They say that's the main cause of skipping school, why enter if half the day is gone already.

We interviewed Mayor MJ Rose-McPherson about the situation.

"Well, of course the city would love to have more funding for schools, but we just don't have the budget to support it. As you know, we offered some incentives so the Backlot Studio would set up here. And those incentives cut the rest of the budget to the bone."

"Then the incentives were a bad idea?"

"I'm sure that having a new industry in town will make life much better in the long run. It's just going to be a bit rough for the next two years. I've asked the governor for assistance. However she has yet to reply."

I managed to convince Governor Christi Clayton to an interview.

"Sunset Valley gets just as much of the government money as the other cities in our district. It is not our responsibility to throw more money toward a city that spent over a quarter of their budget on some 'incentive' scheme.

People in the City

Landgraab family gathered in the local library. Patriarch Geoffrey Landgraab, both his sons Malcolm and Brendan and Malcolm's wife Bella all decided to take a break in the library.

Malcolm said, "We're really mostly a bunch of bookworms and this gives us a break from the babies."

"Babies?"

"Bella gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl. We're quite excited of course but a little stressed from having two babies to deal with."

Ripley Warren-Hawke spent much of the evening playing at Red Rendezvous.

"There wasn't a big crowd tonight, but the people here were most appreciative of my music. They dropped over a hundred simoleons into my case."

Relationships in the city
by Star Matlock
Bradley Kane and Courtney Leman were getting to know each other better in one of the traditional town trysting places, the Pleasant Rest Graveyard at night. The teenagers were willing to spend until the wee hours of the morning, unfortunately for them, the police regularly look for teen couples. Worse for Courtney was her father Thomas was the cop that busted them.

"Courtney did try the 'Oh Daddy, we just lost track of time' ploy," Thomas Leman stated. "So she's grounded until she can prove her ability to tell the time properly. She might be allowed out by the time she's an adult, maybe."

"And the Kane boy?"

"His father did not look pleased to see a police car arrive outside his house with his son in it. I believe a few words were dropped in the boy's ear."

Jon Marsh and Pauline Wan were seen together at The Corner Pub. The two of them were getting along quite well, which is only to be expected of two of the biggest flirts in town.

They also share a similar history. Jon was married once and has divorced. Pauline was married once and has divorced. They both left children behind with their former spouses.

Sunset Valley Chess Tournaments
By Autumn Portobella

Trina Sw0rd is still working her way through the chess ranks. Her last opponent was Thomas Leman. After two matches, Mr Leman graciously admitted defeat.

"Her opening gambit was superb," said Mr Leman discussing the match. "Trina is a moderately aggressive player and I wasn't keeping my defenses in line well enough.  We may have a new Chess champion in the city soon."

  1. Wow! The blog looks fantastic. I love the new banner.

As for the news, I must agree that having a new studio would bring benefits in the long run , but I think education is still more important ;) I look forward to seeing what MJ Rose-McPherson and Governor Christi Clayton had planned for the city and also to solve the problem.

Wow, Bella ... twins? Lots of joy, of course, and at least she doesn't have to wait again for another ;)

Nice to see Ripley and her fancy guitar. Red Rendezvous is a nice place to hang out - good for musicians.

;) Oh my, can't get enough of teenagers running around in the graveyard and flirting. OMG Bradley!!! I thought he was waiting for Em there.
:D worse, Courtney's father was the cop!

Oh my, Brad... perhaps he has to be careful next time and not showing his face ( at least for a while) in front of Thomas. I think it's only in my stories the teens are free to go running around town at midnight :D with no cop around.

Jon Marsh and Pauline Wan have so much in common, but I doubt that they will have a long courtship and eventually settle down with one another.

  2. Thanks MJ. I decided to add a banner and change up the other blogs. It was so nice to see Sammy's blog looking good with the new Kaleeko banner.

It's good when you can take a glitch, the kids can't get into the school fast, and make it into a story. Mayor MJ and Governor Christi have their work cut out for them.

Yes, Bella and Malcolm have twins. So that makes three kids for them.

No, this Brad will never see Em or Alesha. Not in Sunset Valley. But he was getting on very well with Courtney. And of course Courtney's dad the cop knows where to look for errant teens. Thomas has had practice and now his kids are nearly or at that age.

Short term relationships are the preference of both Jon and Pauline. A fling is all they want. :)

  3. I just realised what an idiot I am. There is no particular reason I can't change the name of the blog to "The SV Times" except...now I've got a banner with the current title in it. LOL

I hope I remember to change the name of the blog the next time I feel like doing a banner - then I could skip the whole "Adventures with Sims 3 presents" bit.

  4. Overcrowding still isn't fixed, huh? XD Man.. That's insane. I haven't seen that happen in a long time in my game--guess I don't have enough kids or something. Hopefully none of them are getting kicked off the military school for bad grades!;D Seems like the politicians can't do much to fix it, either.

Always weird to see Brad as a teen again--rather amused about the cop car at his house... Doubt Jeb cared as much about Brad being out late as he did the Crown Victoria parked outside. ;D

Jon Marsh and Pauline Wan sound like they'd make a perfect match. :P

Thomas getting pwned at chess, is he? ^^ Go Trina! Conquer the town with chess! Cute post, PiB!

Yeah, it'd make more sense to change the name of the blog--you didn't save the header as a PSD before making the jpg? Tsk tsk, PiB. That'd be a quick fix if you had!

Still, it works for now. :) Site is definitely lookin much more loved!

  5. Well, if you aren't paying attention to your school, it might be happening. Or maybe your hood works better, this one does have a *lot* of teens and children. Good for the town, bad for the school.

Poor Brad, in this blog, heaven knows how long till he gets to grow up. Then again Travis is a teen too and that's even weirder. :) Somehow, yeah, I think Jeb was more concerned about the cop car and very little about a son breaking curfew. Somehow, trying to imagine Jeb scolding his son made me flashback to a Travis party a long long time ago.

Jon and Pauline would be a great match. Doubt they will though.

Thomas is opponent 3 that Trina has taken down. She is really doing well in the tournament circle.

I'll see if I did save the psd. It would make things quicker if I remembered.

  6. So any comments on the new version of the banner/blog design?

  7. Looks good! Definitely a lot more straightforward then before. :)

  8. I don't know why I hadn't thought to give the blog a new title after I decided to stick with the newspaper format. I think it's definitely better that the blog title, banner title and the 'newspaper' all agree now. :)

    Thanks for the comment!
