The SV Times - We bring Gnus to Yous

People around town
by Cycl0n3 Sw0rd

Continuing our special feature on the politicians in town.
Cyclone: Angelo, how do you feel about your career prospects?
Angelo: Not good, seriously. There are so many of us in politics and so few places at the top. I'm the local representative so I can do a lot of good for folks in the area.

Cyclone: And your fellow politicians?
Angelo: Well, not to name names, but we have some excellent people and we have some very bad apples.

Cyclone: Your wife is looking...
Angelo: Dangerous, I know. It's her birthday and she's threatening everyone around with that wrench if they mention it.

Cyclone: Big birthday?
Angelo: Let's just say that retirement will soon be an option.

Cyclone: Now for Governor Christi Clayton. Christi, what are your goals as governor?
Christi: Well, the usual, make the streets safe, improve the schools and the city is looking for money to add new facilities to our public areas.

Cyclone: New?
Christi: Yep, we are looking for money to add hot tubs to an appropriate area and we are trying to encourage at least one more club to open here.

Cyclone: And your husband?
Christi: Esteban has stayed in politics though he could have retired now. He's one of the local reps and keeps me honest.

Christi: Esteban and I have a son, Maximus. He's a good boy, we hope he continues well in school. He's nearly a teen.

Special Report

Diving into the Dark Side of Sunset Valley

Your reporter, Star Matlock

My brave inside informant, Terrence. He's well into a career at the local warehouse. What's your first impressions of the warehouse gang?

Terrence: Well, it's not as bad as you might think. The boss encourages us to plan the bigger jobs in other towns. Most of what happens here is the small stuff, just enough to keep the cops busy.

Social Scene
by Autumn Portobella

Death visited Sunset Valley today, claiming the lives of both Nick and Vita Alto. Their passing leaves a large hole in our lives, we have no one around as nasty as Nick and no politician left as dirty as Vita.

Jerod and Jerald Wolff moved into Alto manor with their new baby. We wish the boys much success with their future.

In other news, Cyclone's little girl seems to have contracted the "Late Night" disease. The symptoms are horrible blotches on the baby's face and arms. The good news is that the disease is never fatal and babies seem to outgrow it when they reach toddler.

  1. Angelo's wife has the right idea. I agree with her 100 percent. They mention your birthday; whack 'em one time with that wrench. :D
    Smart man that Terrance.
And thank goodness those baby birthmark disappear.
Every time I see Cyclone, I want to feed him. It must be nice to have a metabolism like his.
    Love it.

  2. Angelo's wife - former townie Jenni. She is certainly not looking forward to her elder birthday. Angelo and Jenni, no kids and at this point in time, it's not going to happen.

Terrence best be careful, the boss is not a nice guy. :)

I was annoyed after all the fuss about CC causing weird baby issues that an EP has started doing the same. Stuck with blotchy babies - at the rate they fix these issues, we'll probably have blotchy babies forever or until there's a mod to fix it.

Cyclone is just too too skinny. Poor geek boy, he does need feeding up.

  3. Jebidiah the boss? :D

    Maximus is a cutie.

I'm still hoping for some EP or something to come along that will give us more options with the babies and more stuff for them. If I remember right, we didn't get more options with them in sims2 until several EP's later. I would love to get them out of those blankets and/or have something for them to do.

PiB, I just put Katherine on the exchange. I would love if you gave her a rec when you have time.

  4. Shhh, Dee, you're revealing the *shocking* surprise. I'm sure that absolutely no one realises Jeb is the boss...almost no one...well...maybe not that shocking. LOL

I don't remember ever getting options for babies in Sims 2. They did slowly add some new toddler stuff in later EPs but not babies. Toddlers being able to use pet bed ... that was major in busy houses. They could go over and sleep on *something*.

    Off to the Exchange.

  5. Oops. Sorry. :) :P

I remember, I believe, it was with FreeTime the sims were able to study something before the baby was born and then would be able to click on the baby and know what the baby needed. I also remember that they added stuff in the store that the babies could play with.
I miss the interactions between the toddlers too. I know they gave us huggles and pee-a-boo and other stuff in later EP's. I have also started missing the option for the toddlers to try to take the bottle away from each other.
OMG. I am beginning to sound like some on the forum that keep asking for repeats of sims 2. Aaaaack!

  6. I forgot to say thank you. Thank you. :)

  7. Yep, you spoiled the ...not that big surprise. LOL

They could study parenting skills but I didn't find it that useful. Babies in Sims 2 were either hungry or had a dirty diaper. Change and feed and you were done. I never bought anything ever from the Sims 2 store. :)

I do miss the toddler stuff. Why can't Sims 3 toddlers draw on the table? Sims 2 toddlers could. And Sims 3 children still can't play any instruments - why can't they learn piano as a child?

  8. I never bought anything from the sims2 store either. I didn't play on a computer that was connected to the internet until not long before sims3 was released.
I know! They have been neglecting the toddlers and kids big time. Toddlers can't even puke on other sims when they play with them. Or was that babies. I think it was babies. :D:D:D

Remember the smart milk. It was awesome.

    I feel like a party pooper. :D

  9. Babies puked. If a Sim parent fed baby then played with baby, the odds were extremely good that the baby would throw up. Oddly enough, the hunger for baby didn't drop but there was a Sim who really wanted a shower fast in the room.

Smart milk and thinking caps. The only way I survived the insanity of my house with 4 babies - 2 sets of cheesecake twins. Until the fearsome foursome hit childhood, it was a very hectic house. But they were the Landgraabs and they *thrived* on it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh yeah, thinking caps. I can't remember what it did when you left it on too long but I remember sending my sim to work with it on and worrying until she arrived back home.

Every baby in my game got smart milk, even if I had to cheat to get it.

Another thing. The thing that looked like a vaccumn cleaner that sucked up skills. I loved it.

  11. I didn't use the skill sucker thing. I did use energisers a lot! And romance Sims usually owned at least one Love Tub in their lifetime.

As I remember, the only thing that was wrong if they wore thinking caps to work is that there was a time limit to the effectiveness and by the time they got home, it was dead.

The bad thing was if you forgot and used aspiration rewards when the Sim wasn't in a good enough mood. Nearly killed one who had *just* gone down to green in an energiser. The thinking cap could zap *away* a skill point and make them faint if they were in a good enough mood.

  12. Hehehe.. Hard not to see a woman as dangerous when she's flailing about that wrench! O.O

Oooo, the criminals are next! Surpise spoiler? I heard no surprise spoiler. *plugs ears and whistles*

Kinda sad and glad to hear that Nick and Vita have passed away. At least they went at nearly the same time. That way you didn't end up with any undesirable pairings... ;)

That baby glitch is horrible. Like, how did they even manage to pull something like that off?! Continues to baffle me, the things that go wrong with each EP release.

Fun reminiscing about the old rewards in Sims 2. I didn't use them very often, but I do believe one of my houses had the one that you stood in a bucket and it either zapped you to full motives or no motives...

I kinda miss the odd chance that something horrible could happen. It seems in Sims 3, at a certain point bad things don't really happen. No random chance cards from work that might get you fired, no lifetime rewards that might almost kill you... Ah well. Can always make the bad things happen on my own, I spose.

  13. Birthday time and a wrench - seems reasonable. :)

Yep, an extra special report while Cyclone takes toddler time off.

Nick and Vita were 'helped' by Twallan. I was tired of them and their son's family could use a better home. Even if the boy is a Wolff now.

Yep, all my babies look diseased. It's sad. :(

The one with the bucket is the energiser. I loved that one. Put one on a community lot and it never got used up - reset every time the Sims left the lot.

Agreed, annoying though the chance cards were, they did add a bit of randomness to the game. Will this option earn a promotion or get them fired? Hmmm.

  14. I had enough of puking babies to last me a lifetime even of the pixelated brand. Although, might be funny if it didn't happen to your sim.

My sweet skinnilicious Cyclone playing Daddy with sweet little girl who's contracted a new myserious disease where the only advice is to out grow it and photoshop the infants pics.

Skill Milk? Energerizors? Soooo confuzzled. Someome give me a cookie before my brain explodes.

  15. Whenever Minnie finds a man who she's actually attracted to we move him in. George Dean was the first me to meet her very high criteria. She got him all set with cloths, sliders, etc...he even got three celebrity stars just from living with her. He flirted wiht Minni and they explored the limits of the hot tub.

Then, they thew a party and George met Minnie's friend Devon (imported from Bridgeport). Within momments the men were flirty and hugging, kissing and making out. George and his new husband moved out and Minnie is alone again. Poor Minnie, she turned him from her team to Devin's team. Time to find a real "I LOVE WIMMENS" man.

    ReplyDelete
  16. OMG Chrysame, that's hilarious. Sad for poor Minnie but hilarious all the same.

Keep looking Minnie, there has to be a guy out there for you. Did you look at the red heads yet?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ben is an adult with kids and happy with his wife, Ripley. Thomas is single and friends with Minnie but they don't find each other attractive in the least. Heh.

Bradley Kane is already married so he's off limits. Minnie is picky. I'm just afraid the next man who rings all her bells will use her to meet her next door neighbor, Jimmy Applejacks. Jimmy looks like he needs a big strong man.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Did you grab Jerod Shrimpton yet? He's cute and red. As is Hans. (I will not mention Grants, I will not mention Grants, I will not...oh Bugger!)

Ben and Ripley...nice. Brad and Em or did you let him randomly pair?

Agreed, I have Jimmy Applejacks too and he looks like he needs a guy.

  19. No Emerald in this game. Brad met one of my bin sims, Rose Waters. They're very cute together. Minnie met Mr. Jon Lessen and I swear her shy little knees buckled. Done and done.

    ReplyDelete
  20. :) I should turn an adult Brad lose in one of my games. Maybe in Sam's game, I should add more of our Sims there. Emerald, Travis and Brad along with some of others from my bin.

  21. This post kept me laughing from the beginning. Great work, PiB!

Lol! I thought that the baby's weird appearance only happened in my game or it was caused by my video card. I'm glad to know that it wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Poor Nicole looked perfectly normal pre Late Night. Now look at that ugly blotch on her head. :( And the same has happened to other babies I've played. The Phillip who lives here, his baby with Rachel was blotchy till her birthday.

    Glad you had fun!
