I had restarted a Riverview game. I had houses with Sims, they had jobs, the first few had romance.
And then my machine wanted to do an update to the software that drives the virtual machine that runs Sims 3. This was a critical mistake, my store content can no longer be found by the game. This includes Riverview, all the downloaded clothes and hair etc. I can see all the files in the correct areas but the game can't access them.
So I may try asking the tech support of the virtual machine people what change they may have made to accessing files that is so crucial. I may have to reinstall Sims 3.
OMG, noooooo.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about mac's and virtual machines or I would try to help.
I do recall that a while back my graphics updated to a newer version and I ended up rolling back to the previous one because it messed up my game. Can you do that on a mac?
When I recently had that messed up game, my driver had just been updated. After I deleted that game, the caches, restarted my computer and started a new game things worked again.
I am assuming you have already tried all that though.
Have you already tried removing the mod and putting it back?
I know, I'm not good at solving problems with computers or games. Just tossing around ideas.
Did you get it fixed yet?
ReplyDeleteNo, tried a few things but ...
ReplyDeleteOn the virtual PC - only the downloaded Sims show up, no other downloaded content.
On the Mac side, I have all the content and I can see all the saved games. But I can't install World adventures - it's that stupid region code error. So only base game.
I may give up, buy an aussie copy of the base game (I had bought it originally while overseas in the US) and use the Mac version. Unlike Sims 2, they seem to be keeping Mac versions with the PC this time.
I hate that PiB. If you get another base game, will you have to start all over again or will you be able to some how put your saved games into it? That was a dumb question. There wouldn't be any way to get your saved stuff back. Damn.
ReplyDelete:) I must not have been clear enough. On the Mac side, I can boot the game and I have access to all the store content AND the saved games. I started it and the new Riverview save is there along with piles of others.
ReplyDeleteThe thing missing is WA. So as long as I triple check before uninstalling on the Mac side that I have backup copies of the games, I should be fine. I can't imagine going back to Indiana if they can never holiday again.
After being used to WA, I can see why you wouldn't want to play without it. I was that way about my EP's in sims2.
ReplyDeleteI really really hope you get everything straightened out and get a new base game, so you can play everything again.
*fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteI hope you can resolve your issue, PiB. I miss my PiB Grant family fix.
Just to let you know tonight is the night we do the time change. Forward an hour. I try to keep trak of what your time is so I know when to expect you.
ReplyDeleteDee,
ReplyDeleteWorld Time zones My nearest zone is Brisbane Australia. That can help sort out when people may be around.
Yeah, you were 15 hours ahead of me. After the time change you will be 14 hours ahead of me. I'm catching up PiB!
ReplyDeleteThat is unless you change your time too.
No Queenslanders never change times. Other places in the country do.
ReplyDeleteNo joy, the Mac now doesn't recognise the store content. Damn.
On the other hand, I may try a new install on the PC side. Can't hurt.
Wish my time didn't change. I'm not a bit sleepy and should be going to bed now.
ReplyDeleteI made a suggestion on the blog you and Chrysame were commenting on about the problems. Hope no one gets upset with me, but I know how sometimes when frustrated, it's easy to forget little things.
My conclusions - I can now play on a Mac. I have all the downloaded patterns and Sims. I have no store content and no idea when I might be able to use store stuff again.
ReplyDeleteON the other hand, I started a game and it saved. I went back to the Landgraab game (with triplets and no nanny Sammy) and updated the previous store hair with other. Saved that and all seemed well. I may risk the Indy game and see if that goes.
No store content at all? You'd think that was the one thing EA would make sure you could use. I'm still having my error 12 issues. I can play as Administrator and then save, save, save. The error crops up eventually but at least I'm not losing as much.
ReplyDeleteEither Sims doesn't like Windows 7 or something else is going on. I can't figure it out.
